Pocket Carnival is a label created by Penny Eager in Melbourne, Australia. All items are designed and made in a bright & cheerful studio, with blue curtains and an ever increasing array of storage devices. Penny has been making all the Pocket Carnival goodies since 2007. Now that everything's a little bigger and busier, Chris (the partner-in-crime) helps too. Chris's skills include: folding cards, postal deliveries, being super organised and baking delicious banana bread. Pocket Carnival & the Environment Obviously these days we are all concerned about our environment. Pocket Carnival is committed to being as eco-friendly as possible. All items are now produced in a studio with electricity from 100% Wind Power (renewable energy, hooray!) Items are made using a combination of new & recycled materials. My recycled materials are gathered in a variety of ways - offcuts from fabric stores, fabric that's been hidden in closets of family and friends for years, pieces found in op shops. My recycled fabrics are all very carefully looked after - I examine each piece to make sure it's not damaged, wash it & iron it. All our new range of coinpurses & pencilcases are made of certified organic cotton (GOTS) printed with Pocket Carnival designs. It's a little step, but one in the right direction. Our greeting cards, gift tags and art prints are all now printed on 100% post consumer recycled card. We've found a fabulous card which is smooth and a little velvety, is archival and acid-free & looks great when it's printed. We use biodegradable cello-bags and recycled packaging wherever possible. |
